Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority (MPTA)

IMPORTANT NOTE:

This Authority is governed by The Projects for Advancing Vehicle-Infrastructure Enhancements (P.A.V.E.) Act, not the Mecklenburg County Appointment Policy. 

Mecklenburg County’s Clerk’s Office will be accepting applications for the Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority (MPTA), between Sept.17 and Oct.13, 2025.

 

The MPTA will finance, provide, operate, and maintain a safe, clean, reliable, adequate, convenient, energy-efficient, and economically and environmentally sound public transportation system for its service area. The activation of the MPTA will rest on the outcome of the Nov. 4 Transportation Referendum.

This is your chance to serve your community - apply today for an appointment to a Mecklenburg County Advisory Board, Committee, & Commission. You will be notified if nominated and/or appointed. If you are not initially appointed to a board for which you have applied, your application will be resubmitted automatically until such time that you are appointed, or your application expires. Applications remain on file for one year. 

There is a 65% attendance requirement for all advisory board members that must be adhered to in order to remain a member.  Applications are subject to the N.C. Public Records Law (NCGS 132-1) and may be released upon request.
